“If opposites attract, then I am nothing. Because you, you are everything.”

There’s no easy road traveled to such an intense sentiment, one I never dreamt I’d feel…

But I also never planned on Cannon Blackwell climbing aboard my tour bus.

Ana will put Pretty Instinct on her third shelf!!

I feel like I might be in the minority here.  I liked this book but didn’t love3rd Shelf it.  And, believe it or not, it’s hard for me to say exactly why.  There was a lot of great stuff here – fantastic characters, a storyline that’s different from others I’ve read, and a great love story.  But, somehow it got lost in the translation for me.  Every time I felt my heart beat a little faster, something in the plot would dampen my spirits.  And, although I read until the very last page, I will admit to doing a little skimming in the last half.

I enjoyed most of the characters – Connor was very well written and Cannon was swoonworthy for sure.  Liz was moody but I loved that she was protective of her brother and a fierce character who stood up for what she believed in.  I must admit that, at times, I thought she was a little over the top…meaner than the situation called for, but I liked that she didn’t let herself or those she loved be walked on.  The love was “insta” and I know that turns some people off but I was actually OK with it because I could feel their chemistry.  However, strangely enough, I preferred both Liz and Cannon in the getting-to-know-you stage more than after they got together.  I don’t think that’s ever happened to me before but there it is.

This book is a good – but very long – read.  I think that, for me, there were some chapters that could have been left out in order to provide more time for the conclusion of the story to be better developed.  And, although I feel like I’ve complained a lot here, I will say that I enjoyed much of it…I just wish I’d been able to loved it.Ana
