Title: Ripped
Author: Katy Evans
Series: Real #5
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Published: December 9, 2014
Genre: New Adult Contemporary
Synopsis: Every woman wants me–except the one I sing for.
Seattle shakes with anticipation: they call it the concert of the year. They say girls are getting pregnant just thinking about my band being in town.
But when you love a girl, you don’t leave her with nothing but a ring and a promise. Any man with half a brain should know.
So what did I expect my girl would do when she saw me again?
Well, for starters, she loathes our music. Particularly the song I wrote about her.
When I sing it, the stadium is in an uproar. Thousands of fans scream my name like I’m a god–but yeah, not her. Crystal clear: the girl’s not happy to see me.
Black hair, black boots, a bad attitude, that’s her — Pandora Stone is a freaking man-eater and she’s out for my blood.
That’s alright.
Let her come at me. Because I’m out for her heart and, this time, there’s no way she can stop me.

See, right there you need this book. But, if you want to know more here you go.
This is a story about second chance love by learning to forgive. I fell in love with Remy and Brooke way back when Real was a baby and have followed along ever since. Now we get a chance to get to know their friends and I knew I had to have this book.
Right from the start I knew Pandora really had it bad for MacKenna…even though she was trying to convince herself she hated him. I have to admit I cringed with her immature behavior at the concert, but hey, we are all young once and do silly things for love. I guess that was her silly thing. But then we meet McKenna. swooooooooooon MacKenna is fantastically divine. He is gorgeous, sexy, brooding, sweet, and all man. Pure sex. And his eyes, oh how I could picture them exactly. They sounded beautiful and I know that I could lose myself in them. Yep, he is a great book boyfriend.
The second MacKenna sees Pandora again you can feel the romance crackling in the air. Classic Katy Evans. She knows how to write steamy romance and give us vivid delicious filthy images. But it wasn’t just about hot sex and bodies sliding and touching and….Whoa, must get back on track. this story is also about love. However, neither Pandora or MacKenna was willing to give in quickly and be honest about their feelings. While the two of them spat insults at each other, I could still totally feel the true hurt in their souls. I knew that they didn’t mean any of it, it was just a way of self defense. They were so clearly still totally in love.
I was reading along and knew there were reasons the characters had baggage…but I didn’t expect THAT (sorry, spoiler phobe here, don’t want to ruin it), and then to find out what happened about THAT. I will tell you this, it was not a crazy secret like someone was an alien, however I still didn’t see it coming and for it to unravel as it did. I love surprises! And, it explained so much.
So yes, the ending brought it home and I found that it really made up for the beginning, which included the scene with the food throwing, followed by Pandora and MacKenna having time facet to face. It was an odd way to reconnect, and I’m pretty sure no one meets a world famous band that way, they just get arrested. However, it’s a story so I just went with the flow.
Would I rec this? If you love this series and want to stay in this world it’s a must for your TBR. While the beginning was fine, it was the ending that made the book and rounded everything out. I got to feel all the deeper emotions as the story and history of MacKenna and Pandora unfolded.
Happy reading!
About the Author: Katy Evans grew up with books and book-boyfriends until she found a real sexy boyfriend to love. They married and are now hard at work on their own happily ever after. Katy loves her family and friends, and she also loves reading, walking, baking, and being consumed by her characters until she reaches “The End.” Which is, hopefully, only the beginning…
